Burdock Root

Arctium lappa

Ask any farmer if they like Burdock and they will roll their eyes and tell you to take all you want! A nuisance to our beloved farmers, but a blessing in the eyes of a herbalist!

Burdock root is most common, however, leafs and seeds may be added to poultices. It’s a cooling herb, meaning it will cool off hot areas of concern such as acne break-outs, liver issues and even flushed or dry itchy skin. Burdock has been studied for many years for its anticancer properties. It is the popular Essiac formula that has a deep heritage in Native American medicine. Essiac is also used today and you’ll find it in our tea section. Burdock root is also good for the lymphatic system and is beneficial to the immune system.
