Ginger

Zingiber officinalis

Ginger is an herb that has a deep history in Chinese and India medicine. There are many debates as to its origin as many countries want to claim its beginning. Ginger is warming. We know one of the properties of ginger through the soft drink ginger ale, good for an upset stomach. Ginger is good for those tummy issues, digestive complaints nausea, and motion sickness. Ginger also helps the body lower cholesterol, improve arthritis complaints, and warm the body during a cold virus. Ginger is a great herbal team player! It is an excellent herb to ground a formula and help propel the different properties to the area of need.

Ginger is also a great cooking spice. Whenever you need ginger, you don’t have to go any further than your spice rack. The root is used. Making ginger tea can be done with fresh root from the farmer’s market or using our cut and sifted root in a tea infuser. Cool the tea and add honey and seltzer water for a mock ginger ale.
